Pregnancy Update: 6 months

28 weeks pregnant

1.  Let’s recap how your 6 month of pregnancy went, shall we?

This month has been a whirlwind.  With the focus of getting ready to host Christmas and all the holiday festivities I’ve been attending;  I’ve kind of, sort of,  haven’t had a minute to remind myself that I’m…well, pregnant.

…and now, with a blink of an eye, I’m starting my 28th week.  A.K.A.: I’m in my last trimester.  Did you hear that, MY LAST TRIMESTER!  Let’s just take a moment to let that one sink in…

2.  Your thoughts now that you know it’s a boy?

I wasn’t kidding when I mentioned in my gender reveal  that it took me a month to come to grips that I was having a boy.  With a pregnancy that is completely opposite than my first, coupled with testing out every old wives tale;  it seemed clear as day that I was having a girl.  I mean, who goes out and starts buying girl clothes, shoes, and accessories?  Oh wait, me…

Good thing I’ve got friends with baby girls that I’ve been gifting my adorable girl collection to.

3.  What’s on your baby to-do list?

I’m feeling the pressure…(and I’m not talking the baby lying low on the belly)…I’m talking about the pressure to do two things:

(1) I’ve got to get the nursery down, stat.  A white nursery is what I’ve coordinated thus far, but that’s about it.  I’m working on finding unique art to hang on the wall.  Got any leads, friends?

(2)  To sort through Harrison’s baby boxes to pull out all of our “first year” necessities.  Plus, the task of re-washing all of his newborn and 0-3 month clothes.  I took a sneak peek at my son’s old clothes and I’m giddy with excitement of how cute I once dressed my little man :).

4.  What are you wearing as of lately?

The chill in the air finally arrived in our coastal town, so I’ve been rocking my maternity jeans paired with my regular tops.  On foggy mornings I’ve also been throwing over a vest to complete my look;  just like I’d say I would in my Maternity Style Hacks post.  In fact, I’ve been incorporating all those looks into my wardrobe.  It has saved me some precious money on maternity clothes and my wallet likes that ;).

I’m pretty happy to report my foot has remained the same size (unlike my last pregnancy).  Good thing because I’ve been living in these new kicks…they are what I call “Holiday-preppy meets California-street.”  (P.S. they are on sale now at Madewell…if you fancy them too!)

I’ve also been accessorizing my look with this engravable necklace from Stella & Dot.  I’ve basically become obsessed with their gold-plated jewelry line.  So much so, I’m currently hosting an online trunk show you can visit here.

5.  What was your 6th month highlight?

Getting this baby bump into a fitted black dress for my hubby’s work party.  It was a proud moment and HAD to be shared on Instagram.

6.  Lastly, the dreaded weight gain question?  Spill the beans…

I’m up 20 pounds now, but catch me on a scale after a meal and let’s call it 22 lbs.

Sincerely, Kymberly

After visiting Washington, D.C. and Boston; relaxation was my number one priority when we reached Cape Cod.  To accomplish this, I booked us a private cottage that overlooked the Atlantic.  Our stay at Chatham Bars Inn was luxurious, relaxing, and provided the quintessential New England vibe I had wanted to experience.

My second priority while in the Cape was to enjoy fresh seafood.  I did just that.  Lobster became my go-to grub and I enjoyed ever single bite from my 2 pounders I’d order.  Here’s an insider’s tip: want to feel like a local and save $$$ like a local, order your lobster dinner at the local fish market where they will prep and cook the lobster for you.  Then take it home to enjoy in the comforts of your hotel.

Having never been to Cape Cod before, it turned out to be the exact trip I had hoped for.  We cycled through our routine of walking the beach, horsing around the croquet court (which conveniently was located in front of our cottage), window shopped Chatham’s quaint main street, snapped a few pictures in front of some iconic lighthouses, and even took a trip to the Cape Cod potato chip factory.

Granted I had hoped to test out my newly certified sailors license, but the lack of fair winds made it impossible to do.  Oh well.  Looks like I’ll just have to keep “sailing the Atlantic” on my bucket list for a little bit longer.  But I’m not complaining, all the more reason to plan a return trip to the Cape.  😉

Sincerely, Kymberly

Dear J.Crew

thanksDear J.Crew,

The other day I determined I have been a faithful shopper at J.Crew for almost 10 years now.  Ordering from your catalogs and shopping in your retail stores have become second nature to me and as each year passes, I’m finding myself even more devoted to the brand.

That devotion looks like it isn’t wavering any time soon.  You’ve hooked-line-and-sinked my entire family too.

For myself, each season I’m thoroughly impressed with the new styles available.  Especially as my wardrobe has continued to remain preppy, but with more of a sporty-chic tone; you have me covered.

With my belly growing from the length of a banana to eventually a watermelon; you’ve incorporate maternity bottoms to suit my on-the-go lifestyle.  Psst, I’m currently living in these denim shorts.

Not to mention, it helps that as a card member and email subscriber, I’m getting the extra hook-ups on discount codes.  Take that, savvy shopping.

Then there is my husband, he turns to your catalogs as his copy-cat stylist.  He finds what looks he likes and orders.  He’s easy like that.  Promise me you won’t change a thing about your catalogs?

As for my son,  he’s rocking your boy clothes on the daily now.  Daddy’s mini-me has me chasing him around with my camera ready to capture all the cuteness he’s exuding in his tiny tot clothes.  (P.S. your toddler sneakers might just be my favorite things to purchase for him.)

Finally, the reason for this open letter- my little bun in the oven has quickly gained an impeccable gender-neutral wardrobe with a huge help from your baby collection.  The neutral onesies and knotted beanies are exactly what I had been looking for.  The super modern color-tones has made the “not finding out” gender game easy.

Oh, and your cashmere baby blankets  are swoon worthy and I can already envision early morning feedings with baby wrapped around one.

If I do end up having a girl (which I sort of think it is), I’ll be sure to add to my shopping cart a handful of those adorable bloomers.

There you have it, a pat on your back for the job well done.  You continue to make this savvy shopper look stylish, kuddos for keeping my husband’s wardrobe totally on point, for my son’s hip toddler gear, and for starting my future little’s wardrobe right :).

Thank you, J.Crew.

Sincerely, Kymberly

Maternity Style Hacks

maternity style

I’m in the East Coast for the next two weeks and packing for this trip really got me excited for fall weather since my California days are still spent in summer-like wardrobe.  Would you mind falling in line with the cold-weather movement, California?  Thanks, much appreciated.

With fall and winter weather just around the corner, I’m not only looking forward to the season of holidays, but the chance to dress this bump in accordance.  For my last pregnancy, my second and third trimester was spent during the spring-summer months which called for lots of dresses and dips in the pool to keep me from overheating.  However, I can finally get my chance to dress my bump in what is my favorite time of the year to be fashionable.

In order to stay stylish while intermingling my pre-pregnancy clothes with my newly purchased maternity clothes, I’ve rounded up 5 maternity style hacks  to help me look fashionable for fall thru winter:

1.  Wear loose fitting dresses.  For colder days throw on pregnancy leggings underneath.

2.  Take a button up shirt and knot it above the belly.  Looks super cute with a knotted t-shirt too.

3.  I’m totally loving a cape and every since I saw Burberry’s monogrammed poncho, I’ve been counting down the days till I can recreate this look.  There’s no denying the cuteness when you’ve a bump peeking out.

4.  When you’re pregnant you tend to get overheated easily, so layering is a must.  Especially paired with a vest.

5.  I’m the biggest advocate for hats all year round.  Whether it’s a baseball cap or a fedora, I usually have one donned upon my head.  The right hat can turn a plain or relaxed outfit,  into a chic Instagram-worthy outfit.

Sincerely, Kymberly

Where to? Wear this. {Valentine’s Day}

valentine's day \\ where to? wear this. \\ sincerely kymberly

I’m all about romance and my husband knows that I don’t take Valentine’s (or any holiday) lightly.  (That’s code for: we are celebrating February 14, gosh darn it.)

With thoughts of romance running my head, I couldn’t focus on just one to chat about this week.  So, I thought I’d share my inspirations should one of these five scenarios play out for you 😉 .

1.  Weekend Getaway: packing in style.  (P.S. this bag is legit, it expands A LOT.  You know, just in case you buy a souvenir or two…or three…)

2.  A Candle Lit Dinner: wear a flirty skirt and killer heel.

3.  Staying Indoors:  an oversized button down paired with these lace lovelies is the ideal outfit.

4.  Enjoy the Outdoors:  let your (ahem, Burberry) trench coat be that statement piece.

5.  Surprise!  Just go with it…:  be prepared for anything!  I think comfort is key and I’m loving this tee paired with sneakers.  I’ve been eyeing these Vince slip-on’s for sometime now…

Feeling the romance bug yet?  Oh you will…

Sincerely, Kymberly

P.S.  I’ve got a little clue into what I’ll be expecting…it involves a surprise and some staying indoors…  Ohh la la!
